It’s important that you think about weights and the towing capacity of your vehicle before you decide to venture out onto the open road. This website here has some good information on towing and even tells you what the towing capacity of many vehicles is. Always check your vehicle’s handbook to confirm though.
Our campers are unbraked and can weigh up to 750kg in total. This weight includes the camper itself and anything you put in or on it. The maximum weight cannot exceed 750kg.
Although the maximum weight can be up to 750kg, that is not the “empty” or “dry” weight. These terms refer to the weight of the camper with nothing in it. The absolute minimum it can be in other words.
The FIADHAIDH TD weighs 600kg empty meaning you have a luggage capacity of 150kg. Who would ever want to take that much stuff though?
Your driving licence will show which categories of vehicle you are allowed to drive. They are displaying the following advice currently (January 2021):
You’re usually allowed to drive a vehicle and trailer combination up to 8,250kg maximum authorised mass (MAM). View your driving licence information to check.
You’re also allowed to drive a minibus with a trailer over 750kg MAM.
You can drive vehicles up to 3,500kg MAM with up to 8 passenger seats (with a trailer up to 750kg).
You can also tow heavier trailers if the total MAM of the vehicle and trailer is not more than 3,500kg.
You can drive motor tricycles with a power output higher than 15kW if you are over 21 years old.
Physically disabled drivers with provisional category B entitlement will also have provisional entitlement to ride category A1 or A motor tricycles.
